About this place
The Sisters of Divine Providence community in Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu, is listed in the Korean Catholic Directory as the congregation’s “Seoul Branch,” a women’s religious community. The congregation began in the Diocese of Mainz, Germany, in 1851, and the Korean Catholic Directory records its arrival in Korea on August 19, 1966.
Since coming to Korea, the congregation has served especially the poor and the sick through educational, medical, and social-welfare ministries. The Siheung-dong Seoul branch is therefore best understood as a local religious community carrying on the congregation’s common life and apostolate within the Archdiocese of Seoul.
