About this place
Mokdong-dong Catholic Church is a parish of District 8 of the Diocese of Uijeongbu, located at 52 Gyoha-ro 159beon-gil in Paju. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea records the parish as established on February 6, 2020, with the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as its patron.
It is a young parish serving Catholics in the newer residential areas around Mokdong-dong and Unjeong through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life. Devotion to the Holy Family and the task of building a parish community within a growing new town are central to its present identity.
History & origins
Mokdong-dong Parish was established as a new parish of the Diocese of Uijeongbu on February 6, 2020. According to the parish's official history, Fr. Raymond Kim O-seok arrived as the first pastor on February 18, beginning the parish's regular pastoral life.
As the community became established, a second pastor arrived in February 2024. The official chronology remains relatively short because the parish itself is a recent foundation dating from 2020, and its history continues to develop alongside the growth of the new urban area in Paju.
