History & origins
충경 성당 was established on September 16, 1983. A 1992 Diocese of Jeonju publication identifies it as the Catholic church of the 35th Infantry Division in Songcheon-dong, Jeonju. In 1996, the community appealed for support to replace an aging prefabricated chapel that held about 120 people with a new church. The 35th Infantry Division began relocating from Songcheon-dong, Jeonju, to Imsil in December 2013; the current Korean Catholic directory now lists 충경 성당 in Imsil-eup, Imsil-gun.
