About this place
충경 성당 is an Army-affiliated parish of the Military Ordinariate of Korea, serving the Catholic faith life of military personnel. It is currently located at 전북특별자치도 임실군 임실읍 감천로 55-77 사서함 89-301호, and its patronal dedication is the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In keeping with the Military Ordinariate’s pastoral mission, the parish supports faith life in the military through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, counseling, and related ministry. Because access and schedules can depend on military-site conditions, visitors should confirm current Mass times and access arrangements with the parish before going.
History & origins
충경 성당 was established on September 16, 1983. A 1992 Diocese of Jeonju publication identifies it as the Catholic church of the 35th Infantry Division in Songcheon-dong, Jeonju. In 1996, the community appealed for support to replace an aging prefabricated chapel that held about 120 people with a new church. The 35th Infantry Division began relocating from Songcheon-dong, Jeonju, to Imsil in December 2013; the current Korean Catholic directory now lists 충경 성당 in Imsil-eup, Imsil-gun.
