History & origins
칠성 성당 was established on September 1, 1972. Construction of a new church began on June 10, 1995, and was completed on May 22, 1996; the dedication was celebrated the following day, May 23, with Bishop Jeong Myeong-jo, then Ordinary of the Military Ordinariate, presiding.
The Catholic Times reported that the project included a single-story church of about 100 pyeong and a two-story annex of about 100 pyeong for an education hall and rectory. The record shows how the parish community’s long-standing church-building effort culminated in the dedication of the new church in 1996.
