Sancheong Francisco Education Center

Sancheong Francis Education Center is a retreat and prayer facility of the Catholic Diocese of Masan located in the Sungsimwon area of Sancheong-eup, Sancheong-gun, and is under the care of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans). The Catholic Directory of Korea classifies it as a “retreat/prayer house,” while the Sancheong Sacred Heart of Jesus Friary of the Friars Minor at the same address includes a retreat center and care facilities.

Rather than functioning as a parish church with territorial jurisdiction, the center is best understood as a place for prayer, retreats, spiritual rest, and formation within the Franciscan tradition. The fact that the friary community and Sungsimwon’s works of care share the same setting gives the center a distinctive atmosphere in which contemplation, fraternity, and service to vulnerable neighbors are held together.
