About this place
Sacheon Catholic Church is a parish in Area 4 of the Jinju District of the Diocese of Masan and serves Catholics in Sacheon-eup and surrounding areas through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life. Both the Catholic directory and diocesan sources identify the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the parish patron. Because the parish grew from a long-standing mission community, it carries the memory of an earlier rural Catholic presence even as it now serves an urbanizing town center.
Catholic life in Sacheon developed within a local environment shaped by rural communities, a military presence, and the town itself. After the Korean War, military chaplains helped care for the mission community, while local Catholic youth and priests from neighboring parishes also played important roles in sustaining it. The present parish is the result of these strands coming together and continues the ordinary faith life of Catholics in Sacheon-eup under the patronage of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
