Namji Church

About this place

Namji Catholic Church is a parish in Area 3 of the Masan District of the Diocese of Masan and serves Catholics in Namji-eup, Changnyeong-gun, and the surrounding area. The Catholic directory names the Immaculate Heart of Mary as the parish patron and currently lists one mission station under its pastoral care. In a region where rural and small-town life meet, the parish connects local Catholics through Mass, the sacraments, faith formation, and community activities.

Namji reflects the rural pastoral pattern of the Diocese of Masan in which a parish church and mission communities work together to sustain Catholic life across a dispersed area. The Immaculate Heart of Mary provides a devotional focus on Mary's faith and love, while the parish church functions as the central place where Catholics gather for liturgy and fellowship. Even after earlier reorganizations involving neighboring communities, Namji remains an independent parish that brings together the local Catholic community; this introduction therefore focuses on that continuing identity rather than on schedules or other details that can change frequently. The current Catholic directory still identifies Namji as an independent parish in Area 3 of the Masan District, showing that its present identity remains stable despite earlier changes in the pastoral organization of neighboring communities.
