About this place
Mijo Mission Station is a Catholic mission station in Mijo-myeon, Namhae-gun, within the Diocese of Masan and is currently under Namhae Parish. The Catholic directory lists Mijo as a mission station in the Jinju District and explicitly names Namhae as its mother parish. The Catholic Encyclopedia of Korea likewise records Mijo among the mission stations served by Namhae Parish.
Because villages in Namhae-gun are widely dispersed across an island and coastal landscape, a single parish church cannot always be close to every Catholic community. Mijo therefore serves as a local center where Catholics in southeastern Namhae can maintain community life without having to travel to the parish church for every gathering. Public sources do not provide enough detail on the mission station's history or current liturgical schedule, so this introduction is limited to its verified affiliation and role as a rural-coastal Catholic community.
