Hakdong Mission

About this place

Hakdong Mission Station is a Catholic mission community of the Diocese of Masan in Dongbu-myeon, Geoje, serving as a small local place where Catholics who live at some distance from a parish church can gather for prayer and maintain communal faith life. The Catholic directory lists “Hakdong” at its present location as a mission station of the Diocese of Masan, and Catholic guides for vacation areas have also regularly introduced it as a place available to Catholics visiting southern Geoje.

A mission station is not an independent parish with the same permanent pastoral structure as a parish church; rather, it is a place where local Catholics remain connected with a parish while sustaining prayer and community life closer to home. Hakdong lies within the eastern and southern Geoje area visited by many travelers, giving it meaning not only for local Catholics but also for visitors looking for a Catholic place of prayer. Because Masses or community prayer services may change according to season and pastoral circumstances, visitors should consult the latest guidance from the responsible Church community rather than rely on a fixed schedule.
