About this place
Gongbae Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Masan in the Gongbae area of Jigok-myeon, Hamyang-gun. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea directory currently lists Gongbae as a mission station of the diocese, while the Diocese of Masan's account of Hamyang Parish confirms that the community is pastorally connected to that parish. It serves as a small local center that helps Catholics in a rural area some distance from the parish church remain close to prayer and community life.
The relationship between parish and mission station is especially important across Hamyang Parish's broad rural territory. A diocesan account describes priests visiting the mission communities to celebrate Mass and share fellowship with local Catholics, comparing the closeness of those encounters to the early Church. Gongbae is therefore best understood not primarily through its building, but as a community space linking the parish with Catholics in the village. This introduction focuses on that verified pastoral relationship and role rather than on Mass frequency or schedules that may change over time.
