About this place
Deoksan Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Masan in Sicheon-myeon, Sancheong-gun. The current Catholic directory confirms a mission station of the same name and locality. In the broad mountain and rural environment near Jirisan, it can be understood as a small community space where local Catholics gather close to home and continue their faith life.
A mission station is smaller than a parish church, but in rural areas where travel distances are long it can play an important role in sustaining relationships among Catholics and a common life of prayer. Deoksan likewise has meaning as a neighborhood faith center that keeps a Catholic community present in the locality. Current public official sources do not sufficiently establish its regular Mass arrangements, mother parish, foundation, or building history, so potentially changing details are omitted from this introduction.
