Daesan Catholic Church is a parish in Area 3 of the Masan District of the Diocese of Masan and at the same time a pastoral center that the diocese presents as the “Daesan Shrine,” dedicated to the veneration of a martyr. The Catholic directory names the Immaculate Queen as its patron. In addition to serving parishioners through Mass, the sacraments, and faith formation, it also supports pilgrimage and veneration connected with Blessed Thaddeus Gu Han-seon, a feature that distinguishes it from an ordinary parish.

Here the functions of parish and shrine are not separate but meet within one Catholic community. Daesan serves the everyday faith life of local Catholics while also acting as the diocesan center for pilgrims who come to remember the life and witness of the martyr. Devotion to the Immaculate Queen and the local memory of martyrdom stand together, making the church a place where parish liturgy and the martyr heritage of the Catholic Church in Korea intersect.
