About this place
Buksin-dong Catholic Church is a parish in Area 1 of the Geoje District of the Diocese of Masan. It serves Catholics in Buksin-dong and nearby areas of Tongyeong through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community activities. The current Catholic directory names the Resurrection of Jesus as the parish patronal mystery and records the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill as the religious congregation collaborating with the parish.
The parish arose amid the urban expansion of Tongyeong and the creation of new residential areas on reclaimed land. As the population around Buksin-dong grew, the existing Taepyeong-dong church could no longer comfortably serve the expanding Catholic community, and a separate church was needed closer to the new neighborhoods. Today Buksin-dong continues as a parish shaped by that urban transformation, gathering the Catholic community of northern Tongyeong around the mystery of the Resurrection of Jesus.
