About this place
Bugwi Mission Station belongs to Jinan Parish in the Diocese of Jeonju and supports the Catholic life of believers in Bugwi-myeon, Jinan County. Both the Diocese of Jeonju’s current mission-station list and the Korean Catholic directory identify Bugwi at the same location. Within the structure of Jinan Parish, which serves the whole county, it connects a local community some distance from the parish church with the parish as a whole.
A mission station is not merely a small building but a community space where local Catholics gather and remain connected with their parish. Bugwi also has an education hall; in 2016 the aging hall was renovated, the narrow access road was improved, and a blessing ceremony was held. Diocesan reporting states that about one hundred members of the mission-station community took part, illustrating the role the site has played in sustaining Catholic community life in Bugwi-myeon.
