About this place
Seohakdong Catholic Church is a parish church in District 3 of the Diocese of Jeonju, serving residential areas east of Jeonjucheon Stream around Seohak-ro in Wansan-gu, Jeonju. The diocese’s current information identifies its patronal title as the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Located between the old center of Jeonju and the city’s southeastern residential districts, it serves as a local parish for liturgy, sacramental life, catechesis, and community activities.
The parish emerged from the expansion of the Catholic community historically centered on Jeondong and later participated in the reorganization that led to the separation of neighboring communities, including Sanggwan Parish. A community of the Society of the Holy Word is currently present at the parish, showing the coexistence of parish life and consecrated religious life in the same local church. Its dedication to the Holy Family and its pastoral role in southeastern Jeonju are central to understanding Seohakdong Catholic Church today.
