The Jeonju community of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Service is registered in the Korean Catholic directory and diocesan institutional records as a religious community in Buan-myeon, Gochang. It is a local community through which the congregation continues its consecrated life and apostolic service within the Diocese of Jeonju.
Following St. Francis of Assisi, the congregation describes its mission as accompanying the poor and marginalized through domestic and overseas mission, healthcare, social welfare, and parish apostolates. Its spirituality grew from a response to needs for medical care and service in Wonju, and the Gochang community is therefore best understood within the wider Franciscan charism of mission and service rather than as an independent institution with a separate mission of its own.
