About this place

Meouna Mission Station is registered under Jinan Parish in the Catholic Diocese of Jeonju. Current diocesan information marks it as “not operating,” so it should not be understood as a mission station with regular ongoing activity at present. Visitors should therefore regard the place not in the same way as an active parish church with regular Mass and pastoral programs, but as a remaining trace of an earlier local Catholic mission community in the Jinan area.

The notation that the mission station is not operating does not deny the historical existence of the place. Rather, it reflects a wider reality in which rural mission communities that once served as local centers of Catholic life may cease or reduce their functions as population and Catholic community patterns change. Meouna is therefore a Catholic place whose present inactivity should be distinguished from the memory of the community that existed there in the past.
