About this place
Jesung Mission Station is a Catholic mission station in Ungpo-myeon, Iksan, identified in the Diocese of Jeonju's current mission-station list as being under Yongan Parish. The Korean Catholic directory also lists a Jesung Mission Station in the same area as belonging to the Diocese of Jeonju, confirming the basic identity of the place. The current diocesan list, however, marks it as inactive, so it would not be appropriate to describe it as a mission station currently operating on a regular basis.
A Catholic mission station is a local community through which Catholics living at a distance from the parish church have gathered and remained connected with their parish. Jesung can be understood as a surviving trace of that mission-station tradition in the rural northern Iksan area. Because it is presently marked as inactive, changeable information such as Mass schedules or regular opening has not been included. It is safest for visitors to understand the site primarily as a former local center of Catholic community life.
