Eoyang-dong Parish is a Catholic parish in the Iksan area of the Diocese of Jeonju, serving parts of Eoyang-dong, Busong-dong, and Yeongdeung 2-dong. History & origins
Diocesan records confirm that Eoyang-dong Parish was created as a new parish in Iksan in early 1994. The current parish page gives January 29 as the establishment date, while the diocesan chronology records the creation of the parish on February 4. Although the precise administrative dates differ, both sources agree that the parish began in early 1994.
Its establishment coincided with the expansion of residential districts around Eoyang-dong and Busong-dong. A separate parish community was created so that Catholics in the newly developing neighborhoods could participate in liturgy and pastoral life more steadily within their own local area.
A 2016 diocesan bulletin shows Eoyang-dong already established as a parish in the Iksan South district, continuing its community life under the patronal title of the Body and Blood of Christ. Today's parish can therefore be understood as a local Catholic community that emerged from the urban expansion of the 1990s and subsequently took root in the area.
