About this place
Deokchi Mission Station is under Imsil Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Jeonju and serves as a small Catholic center linking believers in the mountainous area of Deokchi-myeon, Imsil County. The Diocese of Jeonju’s current list of mission stations confirms the name Deokchi and the existence of its mission building, illustrating the role of such stations in connecting Catholics who live away from a resident priest with their mother parish.
The Deokchi area lies in a rural mountain setting near Hoemunsan, giving its community a different environment from an urban parish. The significance of the station lies less in its scale than in its function as a place where local Catholics have gathered for prayer and maintained bonds of faith. Published Catholic sources, however, disagree on the exact year of its establishment, so its present identity must be distinguished carefully from its unresolved early chronology.
