About this place
Chilbo Church is a parish of the Diocese of Jeonju centered on Chilbo-myeon in Jeongeup and serving Sannae-myeon, Sanoe-myeon, and part of Ongdong-myeon as well. Current diocesan information records its establishment on January 11, 2008, with All Saints as its patron. Catholic communities in the area had already maintained their faith through mission stations for many years, so the founding of the parish is better understood not as the beginning of an entirely new Christian community but as a change that brought existing mission stations into a closer parish pastoral structure.
After its establishment, Chilbo Parish became the pastoral jurisdiction serving Chilbo-myeon together with Sannae, Sanoe, and part of Ongdong. The current diocesan mission-station list also places nearby communities such as Neunggyo and Dongmak under Chilbo Church, showing that the parish-and-mission-station structure continues to serve the broad rural district.
