Buyong Chapel

About this place

Buyong Mission Station belongs to Juhyeon-dong Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Jeonju and serves as a small pastoral center linking rural Catholics in Baekgu-myeon, Gimje, with their parish. Both the current diocesan list of mission stations and an earlier diocesan detail page identify Buyong as a mission station under Juhyeon-dong Parish. It has the traditional role of a mission station: helping Catholics who live at some distance from the parish church maintain a local community and remain connected with parish pastoral life.

Public official sources clearly confirm the present place and affiliation, but they do not provide a reliable local chronology explaining when the mission station first formed or when its present building was established. It is therefore more appropriate to understand Buyong through its verifiable present identity as a community serving Catholics in the Baekgu area within the mission network of Juhyeon-dong Parish, rather than to add an unsupported foundation story.
