About this place
This place is the Pyoseon community of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing, Seoul Priory. The Catholic Directory of Korea lists the “Pyoseon community” at 169 Pyoseondongseo-ro, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, and the parish at the same address records this congregation as the religious community serving there. It should therefore be understood not as an independent parish church, but as a women’s religious community living in close connection with Pyoseon Parish.
The Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing are rooted in the Rule of Saint Benedict and seek God in community while integrating prayer and missionary service. The Seoul Priory’s official apostolate guide states that sisters take part in parish ministry at Pyoseon and Namwon in the Diocese of Jeju. The Pyoseon community is thus a local place where Benedictine spirituality and the congregation’s missionary vocation meet the pastoral life of southern Jeju.
