About this place
This place is the Jeju community of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd within the Diocese of Jeju. The Catholic Directory of Korea lists the community at 41 Gwangnyeongpyeonghwa 9-gil, Aewol-eup, Jeju City as the “Jeju community” of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, confirming that it is one of the congregation’s local communities in Korea. It is not an ordinary parish church, but a base for a religious community in which sisters live together and carry out their apostolic work.
In Korea, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd have continued ministries accompanying women and girls, especially those facing hardship, violence, and exclusion. Agenzia Fides, the news service of the Pontifical Mission Societies, reports that the Good Shepherd Sisters have prayed and worked in Chuncheon, Seoul, and Jeju for women and girls in need. The Jeju community can therefore be understood as a local expression of that mission in service to both the Church and the wider community.
