About this place
Yedong Mission Station is a Catholic mission station registered under the Diocese of Incheon and serves as a small place of faith for the Catholic community on Socheong Island. The official Catholic directory of Korea lists Yedong as belonging to the Diocese of Incheon and confirms its present location on Socheongdo in Daecheong-myeon.
A mission station is distinct from an independent parish with a resident priest, but it remains an important local unit through which Catholics maintain prayer and their connection with the Church’s liturgical life. On islands, where transportation conditions can be restrictive, such small communities are especially significant signs of continuity in local Catholic life. Yedong is therefore best understood on the secure basis of its current official status as a mission station of the Diocese of Incheon, without relying on changeable information such as schedules or current personnel.
