About this place
Jinri Mission Station is a Catholic mission station of the Diocese of Incheon, located in the island village of Jinri in Deokjeok-myeon, Ongjin County. The official Catholic directory continues to list it as an Incheon diocesan mission station, and older diocesan guides to summer destinations also identified Jinri as a Catholic place where Mass was celebrated in the Deokjeokdo area.
Unlike an independent parish with a resident priest, a mission station is a place where a smaller local Catholic community gathers for prayer, Mass when available, and communal liturgical services. In the island setting of Deokjeokdo, Jinri Mission Station serves as a local focal point that helps Catholics maintain their faith life without having to rely entirely on facilities farther away.
