Little Brothers (Franciscan Order)

About this place

The Seoknam-dong community of the Order of Friars Minor is listed in the Catholic Church Directory in Korea as the “St. Francis Friary/Parish in Seoknam-dong, Incheon,” a community of the Order of Friars Minor (O.F.M.). Religious life and parish ministry take place at the same site as Seoknam-dong Catholic Church, linking the prayer and common life of the friars with the everyday faith life of the local parish in the Diocese of Incheon. An important feature of the place is that it is not a separate retreat facility but an apostolic setting in which friary life and parish ministry are closely integrated.

The official directory identifies the community’s ministries as including parish leadership and assistance, spiritual assistance to the Incheon District of the Secular Franciscan Order, and teaching at Catholic universities. The site is therefore both a friary where the brothers live and pray together and a pastoral setting where Mass, the sacraments, faith formation, and spiritual care for the Franciscan family meet within parish life. This direct connection between religious community life and the concrete pastoral work of the local Church distinguishes it from an ordinary parish church alone.
