About this place
Gojan Parish belongs to the Namdong District of the Diocese of Incheon and serves Catholics in Gojan-dong and neighboring areas through Mass, the sacraments, and parish life. Its patron is the Holy Name of Mary. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea lists it as an independent parish, continuing Catholic life in a southern Namdong area where a mission community had existed well before the creation of the parish.
Catholic life in Gojan was sustained in private homes and a small mission community before an independent parish emerged amid urban, industrial, and residential change. Today the parish continues that local tradition through liturgy, catechesis, and community activities. However, Catholic sources preserve conflicting dates for the formal establishment of the parish, so its present identity and its historical chronology need to be treated separately.
