About this place

The Incheon Monastery of the Discalced Carmelites is a male religious community of the Order of Discalced Carmelites living within the Diocese of Incheon. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea lists the community as “Order of Discalced Carmelite: O.C.D.” and registers it as a religious institute under the subsidiary name Incheon Monastery. Unlike a parish community, it is fundamentally a monastery where the friars live common life, prayer, and the distinctive spirituality of the Carmelite tradition.

A retreat house entrusted to the Carmelite community is also registered at the same location, so the site is not limited to the internal life of the monastery but also supports prayer and retreat for the faithful. It is therefore best understood not as an ordinary parish church, but as a monastic and spiritual place where Carmelite religious life and the spiritual renewal of visitors meet.
