About this place
Gajeong 3-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Diocese of Incheon and serves as a center for the liturgical and communal life of Catholics in the surrounding Gajeong-dong area. The Guide to the Catholic Church in Korea registers it as a parish of the diocese and gives the Exaltation of the Holy Cross as its patronal title. Unlike a mission station or retreat facility, a parish is a stable pastoral community responsible for the sacramental and communal life of Catholics in its territory.
Although the church takes its name from the local administrative district, its primary meaning lies not simply in the building but in the parish community gathered there. The Diocese of Incheon also lists Gajeong 3-dong as an independent parish, so it should be distinguished from the nearby Gajeong-dong Parish.
