About this place
Bupyeong 4-dong Catholic Church is a parish of the Bupyeong District in the Diocese of Incheon, serving a dense urban community near Bupyeong Market and the Buheung intersection. The Catholic Church in Korea directory lists the Sacred Heart of Jesus as its patron, and the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus share in parish ministry. The present church is the ordinary local place for Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life.
The current church, dedicated in 2020, is notable for the deliberate integration of sacred art into its liturgical space, including the altar, liturgical furnishings, and stained glass. Catholic Peace Broadcasting and GoodNews reported that eleven works were designated as the Diocese of Incheon's first officially recognized sacred artworks. Bupyeong 4-dong therefore serves both as an active parish church and as a place where contemporary sacred art visually communicates elements of Catholic faith.
