About this place
Yuchon-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Yuchon-dong, Seo-gu, within the Gwangju West district. The archdiocese records the parish as established on September 3, 2015, with St. Joseph as its patron.
For several years after its foundation, the parish celebrated Mass in commercial premises while preparing to build a permanent church. Groundbreaking for the new church took place in September 2023, and the archdiocese’s official calendar records its dedication on October 5, 2024. The church is now located at 15 Chilseong-ro.
Yuchon-dong Catholic Church is therefore a comparatively young parish under the patronage of St. Joseph, distinguished by the community’s long effort to move from temporary worship space to a permanent church.
