About this place
Yongbong-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, within the Gwangju North 2 district. The archdiocese and the Catholic Church Directory in Korea record the parish as established on August 25, 2000, with St. John Bosco as its patron.
The parish was formed from areas previously served by Unam-dong, Im-dong, and Ochi-dong parishes. Parishioners raised funds for a permanent church, construction began in 2014, and the present church was dedicated in June 2015. The Gwangju community of the Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is also registered at the same Cheonggye-ro 75 address and serves the parish.
Today Yongbong-dong Catholic Church is a local parish under the patronage of St. John Bosco, shaped by its establishment in 2000 and the dedication of its present church in 2015.
