About this place
The Gwangju monastery of the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ is a men’s religious community at 599 Uchi-ro, Buk-gu, Gwangju. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea lists the site as the “Gwangju Monastery / House of Meditation” of the Passionists (C.P.).
The place functions both as a community residence for members of the congregation and as a setting for retreats and spiritual reflection. The directory also identifies a priest responsible for retreat ministry, confirming the combined monastic and retreat character of the site.
It is therefore best understood not as an ordinary territorial parish church, but as a Passionist monastery and spirituality center within the Archdiocese of Gwangju.
