About this place
Usan-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Usan-dong, Gwangsan-gu, within the Gwangju Gwangsan 2 district. Catholic church sources record the parish as established on February 10, 1993, with St. Matthew as its patron, and the archdiocese officially marked its 30th anniversary in 2023.
The parish was formed from Wondong Parish. After its earlier facilities aged, construction of a new church began in 2019, and the present church at 85 Saam-ro 106beon-gil was dedicated on November 14, 2020.
Usan-dong Catholic Church is therefore a local parish under the patronage of St. Matthew, shaped by its foundation in 1993 and the dedication of its present church in 2020.
