Sijong Mission Station is a Catholic mission community of the Archdiocese of Gwangju at 7-6 Gobun-ro, Sijong-myeon, Yeongam County. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea records the mission station as established in 1974, and the current archdiocesan list of mission stations also includes Sijong.
A Korean Catholic gongso, or mission station, is a local faith community smaller than an independent parish with a resident priest, where Catholics gather for prayer and communal religious life under the pastoral care of a mother parish. Sijong likewise serves as a local point where Catholics of Sijong-myeon can sustain their shared faith life.
The core significance of Sijong Mission Station therefore lies not in the scale or functions of a parish church, but in its role as a local Catholic community in Sijong-myeon that has continued since the 1970s.
