About this place
Seosan-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju located in Ochi-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, within the Gwangju North 1 district. The archdiocese records the parish as established on August 25, 1994, with St. Mark as its patron.
Established as an independent parish in the mid-1990s, Seosan-dong serves Catholics in northern Gwangju through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community activities. Although the present street address lies in Ochi-dong, the parish continues to bear the name Seosan-dong.
The church is therefore best understood as a local parish of northern Gwangju under the patronage of St. Mark. The liturgical and pastoral life sustained by the community since 1994 is central to the meaning of the place.
