Seongjeon Mission Station is a Catholic mission community in Seongjeon-myeon, Gangjin County, within the Archdiocese of Gwangju. The current archdiocesan mission-station list and the Catholic Church Directory in Korea confirm that Seongjeon Mission Station exists at 335 Byeolmyeo-ro, the same address given in the package.
The national Catholic directory records June 16, 1967 as the establishment date. A secondary record based on archdiocesan material also describes moves of the mission station in 1972 and again in 2005 because of site conditions, indicating that the present building is not on the community's original site.
Seongjeon is therefore best understood as a local Catholic community in which believers of Seongjeon-myeon have sustained their faith since the 1960s. The continuity of the community through several relocations, and its role as a local place of prayer, are central to the meaning of the site.
