About this place
Seokgyo Mission Station is a Catholic mission community in Imhoe-myeon, Jindo County, belonging to Jindo Parish in the Archdiocese of Gwangju. The archdiocese records its establishment on January 1, 1985 and identifies Imhoe-myeon as its pastoral area.
Seokgyo serves Catholics in the southwestern part of Jindo who gather for prayer and communal faith life under the pastoral care of their mother parish. In an island region away from the parish center, it illustrates the role of a mission station in keeping local Catholics connected with one another and with parish life.
The site is therefore best understood not as an independent parish church, but as the prayer place and faith community of Imhoe-myeon connected with Jindo Parish. Its continuity since 1985 is central to the meaning of the place.
