The Ilgok-dong community of the Salesians is a men's religious community on Moryongdae-gil in Buk-gu, Gwangju. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea identifies it as the "Gwangju Ilgok-dong community" of the Society of St. Francis de Sales in the Archdiocese of Gwangju and gives the abbreviation S.D.B.
The Salesians were founded on December 18, 1859 and entered Korea on May 8, 1954. The Ilgok-dong house is a current community distinct from the Salesian Sinan-dong community and house of formation elsewhere in Gwangju, serving as a base for common religious life and Salesian apostolic presence.
The site is therefore best understood not as an ordinary parish church, but as the Salesian religious community in Ilgok-dong. Because current members and assignments can change, the introduction focuses on the officially documented identity of the community and the congregation's continuing presence.
