The Gwangju community of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer is currently registered in the Catholic Church Directory in Korea at Bonghwang Mission Station, 17 Jukhwang-ro, Bonghwang-myeon, Naju. The directory records the Gwangju community as established in February 2015 and identifies the congregation by the abbreviation C.Ss.R.
An Archdiocese of Gwangju article published in 2023 states that Redemptorist religious served Bonghwang Mission Station from 2015 to 2018 and that Friars Minor had resided there and provided pastoral ministry from 2018 onward. At the same time, the current bishops’ conference directory still lists the Redemptorist Gwangju community at the Bonghwang address, so the present directory address of the community should not automatically be equated with current pastoral responsibility for the mission station.
This target is therefore best understood as the Redemptorist Gwangju community registered at Bonghwang Mission Station, reflecting the congregation’s historical relationship with the mission community since 2015 while keeping current pastoral responsibility distinct.
