About this place
Inji Mission Station is a Catholic mission community at 19-1 Injidokchi 2-gil, Jisan-myeon, Jindo County, belonging to Jindo Parish in the Archdiocese of Gwangju. The archdiocese’s current mission-station page records an establishment date of January 4, 1900 and identifies Jisan-myeon as its pastoral area.
The Catholic Church Directory in Korea gives the broader range “1900–1904,” so there is a minor difference in the dating, but no conflict over the identity of the place or its mother parish. Both sources support its character as a long-established mission community dating from the early twentieth century.
Inji is therefore best understood as a historic local Catholic community of Jisan-myeon belonging to Jindo Parish.
