About this place
Ilro Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju at 40 Ilro-ro, Ilro-eup, Muan County, within the Mokpo-Muan district. The archdiocese records the parish as established on May 10, 1956, with St. Gertrude as its patron.
The Gwangju community of the Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Charity is located at the same address, and the Catholic Church Directory in Korea identifies that congregation as the religious sisters serving Ilro Parish. The site therefore brings together the territorial parish and the religious community that assists its pastoral life.
Since the 1950s, Ilro Catholic Church has served as a local center for Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and community life in Ilro-eup.
