About this place
Hongdo 2 Mission Station is an island Catholic community at 33 Hongdo 2-gil, Heuksan-myeon, Sinan County, belonging to Heuksan Parish in the Archdiocese of Gwangju. The archdiocese records it as established on June 1, 1961 and serving the northern part of Hongdo.
Heuksan Parish links Catholic communities scattered across Heuksando and neighboring islands, in a pastoral setting where travel between communities is often by boat. Hongdo 2 serves within this network as the local faith community for northern Hongdo.
The site is therefore not an independent parish, but an island mission community belonging to Heuksan Parish, with its history since 1961 forming the core meaning of the place.
