The Heuksan Jeong Yak-jeon Retreat and Training Center, also called the House of Meditation, is an archdiocesan retreat facility within the Heuksan Catholic Church complex at 180-20 Heuksanilju-ro, Heuksan-myeon, Sinan County. The Catholic Church Directory in Korea lists it separately from the nearby Heuksan Cultural Tourism Hotel and Retreat House.
The Archdiocese of Gwangju developed the meditation houses as part of a broader effort with Sinan County to strengthen the island’s pilgrimage and cultural setting. The facilities were blessed together with the Missionary House on May 4, 2024. The Catholic Times reports that ten separate two-story meditation houses were built for use as a retreat and formation center for pilgrims visiting Heuksando.
The center is therefore distinct from both the parish church and the nearby hotel, serving specifically as a spirituality facility for prayer, retreat, and formation by individuals and small groups.
