About this place
Hampyeong Hasang Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju at 1309 Miljae-ro, Haebo-myeon, Hampyeong County, within the Naju-Hampyeong district. The archdiocese records the parish as established on January 30, 2001, with St. Paul Chong Hasang as its patron.
An article published by the archdiocese states that the community had been a mission station belonging to Hampyeong Parish before being elevated to parish status. It has continued a close relationship with the Hampyeong and Hakdari communities even after becoming an independent parish.
The church is therefore distinguished as a local Haebo-myeon community that grew from a mission station into a parish under the patronage of St. Paul Chong Hasang.
