Geumam Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Noan-myeon, Naju, within the Naju-Hampyeong area of the archdiocese. The current Catholic Church Directory in Korea confirms Geumam Parish at the same address as the package and identifies St. Isidore as its patron.

The Catholic community in Geumam existed for many years as a mission station of Noan Parish before becoming a parish in its own right. The Korean Catholic Encyclopedia's history of Noan Parish lists Geumam among its mission stations, while a Catholic news report from 2004 records that the Archdiocese of Gwangju established Geumam as a new parish on August 31 of that year. The current Catholic Church Directory in Korea likewise gives August 31, 2004 as the parish establishment date.

Geumam Catholic Church is therefore best understood within the development of a long-standing rural mission community into an independent parish in the 2000s. A current Archdiocese of Gwangju webpage lists 1955 as an establishment date, but because this differs from both the current national directory and the contemporary 2004 record, this introduction follows the 2004 documentation for the establishment of the parish itself.
