About this place
Docho Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Docho-myeon, Sinan County, within the Mokpo-Sinan district. The archdiocese records the parish as established on July 14, 2022, with St. Andrew as its patron. Today it is the center of an independent parish community where local Catholics gather for Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish life.
Its very recent establishment in 2022 is central to understanding the present character of the church. In the island region of Sinan, the creation of an independent parish provided the local Catholic community with its own pastoral unit and helps sustain communal faith life within an island setting.
Docho Catholic Church is therefore best understood not as an old historic site, but as a contemporary island parish. Its liturgical and pastoral life under the patronage of St. Andrew forms the central identity of the place.
