Daechi Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Daejeon-myeon, Damyang County, within the Gwangju North 1 district. The archdiocese records August 19, 2008 as the parish establishment date and names St. Peter Yu Tae-chol as its patron. Today it is the local center where Catholics in the area continue their life of faith through Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish community life.

Established as an independent parish in the late 2000s, Daechi Catholic Church reflects the development of a Catholic community in a rural area of Damyang into its own pastoral unit. Its patronage under St. Peter Yu Tae-chol connects the identity of the parish with the witness of a Korean martyr saint.

The church is therefore best understood not as a special pilgrimage destination, but as the ordinary parish serving the liturgical and communal life of local Catholics. The continuity of parish life since 2008 is the central background for understanding the place.
