About this place
Bangnim-dong Catholic Church is a parish church of the Archdiocese of Gwangju in Bangnim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, within the Gwangju South district. The archdiocese records the parish as established on 1965-12-05 and names Our Lady of Sorrows as its patron.
Established in 1965, the parish is an independent pastoral community where local Catholics gather for Mass, the sacraments, catechesis, and parish activities. Its defining character is that of an ordinary local parish serving everyday Catholic life rather than a special pilgrimage shrine or religious house.
The church is therefore best understood through its present parish community and the continuity of local pastoral life since 1965. Changeable information such as Mass schedules and current personnel is intentionally omitted.
